Global Progress

Ink and acrylic on Game Board
Sold
Global Progress is a piece about consumption. Humans seem to devour all in their path. The seas are predicted to be empty in the next 50 years. Rain forests are vanishing. Where did all the buffalo go? To explore this idea, i decided to use fat people as symbols of consumption. A big study came out recently declaring obesity now as big a global risk as starvation. Fat people everywhere!!! Then I read somewhere on the web about global progress, which had to do with feeding the starving. So there was the name. Progress leads to fat consumers. What a wonderful future we have. This piece was in the 8th annual Art Papers Auction
. It sold to someone who I hope appreciates levels of thought as well as the humor of the piece. I gave the Venus of Wilendorf a cig and some flipflops. She seemed the perfect holy icon for the past and present. Eat More!!!!!!!!

Some detail shots of the piece.
